How we created the Red Mage (Final Fantasy XI online)

To start of, ill note the matterials i used to make it:
Red cotton
Black cotton
Gold band (thick)
Bronze band (thick)
Bronze band (thin)
8 buttons
2 push buttons
2 pieces of elastic
a Hat
a Feather
a pair of gloves
2 Belts
a Sword

oke so to start off...
i started with creating a basic sleavless red shirt on wich i would apply everything.

After this i made the tabbert and the 2 side flaps wich i didnt put on the shirt yet.
i measured the tabbert and the side flaps to have a correct size of the back flap and made the back flap so it would fit.

now i made a measured black piece for the back flap and applyed it on it.
i overlapped the sides of the black piece with bronze band so it would have a nice overflow to the backflap.

Now i measured on where the back and side flaps would come on the shirt and applyed those (i didnt apply the tabbert just yet since it still needed alot of work).
Now i started working on the tabbert for real by getting all the sides covert in bronze band and on the bottom a straight piece of band.

After this ive cut the belts to measure the wideness of the tabbert and made 2 little holes on each side of the 3 cut pieces of belt (this is for applying the belts).
i applyed the belts using the same method as you would use on buttons.
after that i covert the belts side ends with small pieces of bronze band so you wouldnt see the threads anymore.

and the tabbert was finished.

now i applyed the tabbert to the shirt and started on the back side tabbert.
The back tabbert is about the same as above but then like 4" shorter.
Also instead of the belts going trough the middle the belts haveto face to the shirt.
for the lower belts we used the buckles and the hole parts of the belts and the upper we just used two small pieces after that we applied the back tabbert to the shirt and put 8 buttons on it spread over the left and right of the tabbert.

Now we started working on the 2 shoulder flaps (armour thingys).

these are pretty easy to make we simply made a small bent over the 3 straight parts of a triangle and then put a smaller triangle upside down in black over the top.
now we glued the thin bronze bands over the centre at first and then over all edges.
after that we applied them to the shirt

for the next part is REALY easy.
i made the wrist flaps, simply made a square piece of cotton and measered it with the end of my sleeves, then sewed it in a 30 decrees corner to the other side so it would become wider on the inner arms.

now for the knies, i simply made the same things as on my shoulders only slightly smaller so it would fit better.
and for my legs i simply made another square piece of cotton and made a small cut on the lower part in the centre at the front of my feet.
now i made it so it would fit on my legs and glued a diamont shape bronze band on the centre top of it and voila all that was left was my hat.

well here i basicly bought a micheal jackson hat full black and cut off the edges.
then i cut chicken wire in the shapes that i needed and applied them to the hat with staples.
next we applied a measured piece of cottun on the lower and the upper side seen on pic 2 with clue.
2 parts away from completing the cosplay :D.
we applied 2 round pieces on the front of the hat seen on pic 3 and then overlapped the edges of it with thin bronze band also with glue, sticked in a bought feather at the side and voila... the end result !!!
